Community Groups
“What life have you if you have not life together?  There is no life that is not in community, and no community not lived in praise of God.”  - T.S. Eliot

Christianity is about community – a group of people who share engaging, sacrificial and loving relationships together.  Contrary to American individualism, the message of the Bible is never just about “me and Jesus.”  Rather, we read the Bible and are confronted with a vocabulary of salvation that focuses on the whole not just the individual.  All echo the covenant promise of God, “I will be your God and you will be my people.”  We might even say it like this: “Community is the goal of the Gospel.”

Connecting with people makes all the difference and one of the key ways for you to connect at East Lanier is by getting involved in one of our Community Groups.

E.L.C.G.’s are a way for you to build lasting relationships in our church.  The groups consist of 5-7 families coming together in people’s homes to experience community through fellowship, prayer, bible study and outreach. Community Groups will help you grow in your spiritual-life and challenge you to think about the surrounding community.  The purpose statement is: “We gather together as a community to experience Jesus Christ in our midst ministering to us and through us to one another so that our lives and communities are changed.”

Currently there are 6 groups meeting.  They meet in various areas around our community twice a month.  I encourage you to think about how you and your family can be involved in one of our Community Groups.  If you have any questions on how you can get involved, please call at the office 770-945-7800 or you can send e-mail to tstiff@eastlanier.org

Women's Ministry
Bible Study
Our women are currently meeting together in homes to do a study called, "Gospel Transformation." This study is both encouraging and challenging to those who are apart. We have studies in the morning and in the evening.

Play Group
The women also meet for play groups weekly. The kids are always on the go, but it is a great way to connect with women in your own lifestage and beyond. They meet at parks like Bogan and in the summer at places like Lake Lanier Islands.

The Jungle Children's Ministry of ELCC
Kids need to have a place where they can have a blast and at the same time learn about their relationship with God. Here at East Lanier we provide an atmosphere to accomplish both of those goals. Our trainded leaders teach our kids the rich truths in God's word in a way that will make them want to come back for more. As we invest in their lives, we want them to clearly see their need for God's saving frace. We also want them to understand that true satisfaction in life can only come from a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Because we believe that God uniquely equips parents to raise their children, our ministry is saturated with parents who love their kids and who will love yours as well. We look forward to serving you in any way that we can.

Youth Ministry
Chain Reaction

Chain Reaction is our discipleship environment where we focus on in-depth teaching of the gospel, with students grouped by age and gender. We meet on Sunday evenings from 5:00-7:00 pm (7:00-9:00pm during summer.)

Visit the Chain Reaction Blogspot at http://elccym.wordpress.com/

“From the front page of the newspaper to the deep, hidden corners of the human heart a cry is going up. It’s the searching, longing cry of a culture and, in fact, a world in crisis. Where is the hope? Where is the peace? Where is the purpose and meaning for life here in the real world? The answer lies beyond the reaches of governmental policies and great humanitarian efforts, as needed and as good as these may be. It lies in a lowly manger, a cruel cross, and an empty tomb. For it is here that we see the kingdom of heaven bursting onto the scene of what has often been called the ‘real world.’”

Steven Curtis Chapman

The Purpose of ChainReaction is to present Jesus Christ in a clear, positive and relevant way to middle and high school students.

The objective of the student ministry of ELCC is to develop disciples of Jesus Christ. A disciple is a person that:

  1. Personally understands the saving GRACE of God and trusts Jesus Christ as his/her LORD and Savior.
  2. Is committed to spiritual GROWTH in grace and is demonstrating a pattern of life change through the power of the Gospel of Grace.
  3. Is committed to a small GROUP of fellow believers that pursue maturity and community with each other.
  4. Desires to GLORIFY God through worship and service to God.
  5. Is learning to understand and express his/her God-given GIFTS as a servant of Jesus Christ.
  6. Is committed to GOOD STEWARDSHIP of their time, talent and treasures for God’s glory and for building God’s kingdom.

Checkpoints that reveal what a healthy student disciple looks like:
